Challenges

This project came with two key challenges. The first one was the creation of custom illustrations to infuse the user interface with a unique and contemporary aesthetic. The second challenge was streamlining the process of menu customization, ensuring it was intuitive and accessible for the restaurant owner and administrators.

Solutions

To develop the user interface, I drew inspiration from various design projects and brought it to life using Adobe XD. To simplify the restaurant menu customization process, I used Notion as a Content Management System (CMS), offering the restaurant owner and administrators an easy and intuitive way to manage their menu.

Process

I started this project with a focus on designing the user interface. I invested substantial effort in research to gather innovative design ideas that would give the website a distinctive and contemporary appearance. After collecting these ideas, I transformed them into custom illustrations.

With the UI design in place, I transitioned to building the frontend of the website. I used NextJS to create the user interface. I broke down the application into modular components for ease of maintenance. To streamline the reservation process, I developed a serverless function that directly forwards reservation emails to the restaurant owner's inbox.

Once the user interface was developed, I turned my attention to integrating the Notion API. I customized the APIs and configured the CMS in a manner that empowered restaurant owners and administrators to effortlessly add and edit items by simply logging into the Notion dashboard.
